Dr Janani Thillainadesan

Dr. Janani Thillainadesan is a Staff Specialist Geriatrician at Concord Hospital, an early career researcher at the Centre for Education and Research on Ageing (CERA), and a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney. Her PhD work culminated in the implementation of a successful geriatric co-management model for vascular surgery patients, earning the 2021 ANZSGM Career Investigator Prize and 2023 SHP Award for Using Research to Change Health Practice. Janani is now leading a research program focussed on medical education of junior doctors in hospital. She received the 2023 RACP Vincent Fairfax Research Fellowship and recently began her NHMRC Investigator Grant (EL1) Fellowship. She is Co-Chair of her hospital’s Human Research Ethics Committee, Associate Editor for Australasian Journal on Ageing and Age and Ageing, and lead of the Hoc Mai Geriatric Medicine education and research collaboration with the National Geriatric Hospital in Vietnam.

Dr Hari Sritharan is a Research and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellow at Royal North Shore Hospital. He is pursuing a PhD at the University of Sydney, where his research focuses on the clinical translation of machine learning and advanced predictive analytics in cardiovascular disease. His research is supported by the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand & Heart Research Australia.

Dr Jo Nixon is an infectious diseases Physician at Royal Darwin Hospital. She has broad generalist background, and a particular interest in Aboriginal health, striving to improve access to care and health outcomes for Indigenous communities. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time outdoors exploring the Northern Territory with their two young children, embracing the natural beauty.

Dr Bella Halim is a final year endocrinology Advanced Trainee with a research interest. She has published in endocrinology journals and presented in both national and international meetings. She enjoys all aspects of endocrinology but has a particular interest in diabetes, pituitary, adrenal and neuroendocrine tumours.

Dr Hui-Ling Yeoh is a medical oncology Advanced Trainee in Melbourne. She has undertaken her training at the Alfred Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Western Health, Frankston and Ballarat Hospitals. She has a special interest in translational research, and in the management of cancers occurring within transplant recipients.

Dr Burvill is in her second year of Basic Physician Training in Adult Internal Medicine at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Perth. She has a Bachelor of Science degree (1. mathematics, 2. economics) and a postgraduate Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Western Australia. In 2023-24, Angela went to the UK to study a Master of Philosophy in Population Health Sciences at the University of Cambridge, with the support of a Cambridge Australia Scholarship.

Dr Brandon Stretton is a third year Basic Trainee at the Central Adelaide Local Health Network. He is currently a PhD candidate with the University of Adelaide where his research focuses on optimising outcomes for older and high‐risk surgical patients, bridging the gap between hospital‐based care and successful post‐operative recovery. He also has a master’s degree in clinical education. Over the course of his academic career, he has achieved 133 peer‐reviewed publications, culminating in a robust h‐index of eight. This body of work has been supported by over $400,000 in research grants and monetary awards, fuelling ongoing investigations into perioperative best practices, risk stratification, and quality‐of‐life improvements for surgical patients

Dr Aya Amer

Dr Aya Amer is an advanced paediatric trainee based in Dunedin, Te Waipounamu, South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand. She has an interest in metabolic disorders, hence her research project titled 'Glucose transporter-1 deficiency syndrome (Glut1DS): A Te Waipounamu perspective', which explores whether Glut1DS is underdiagnosed in Aotearoa. Dr Amer graduated from the University of Otago, and has maintained an affiliation with the Dunedin School of Medicine as a Teaching Fellow, through which she teaches undergraduate clinical medical students on a regular basis. Her project is supervised by paediatrician and neonatologist, Associate Professor Liza Edmonds, with collaboration from metabolic physician and paediatrician, Dr Emma Glamuzina, and paediatric neurologist, Dr Paul Shillito.

Nadia is a general paediatric and paediatric infectious diseases Advanced Trainee based at the Royal Darwin Hospital. She has a keen interest in tropical medicine, infectious diseases, refugee health, and public health. She hopes to contribute to improving global health outcomes.

Dr Olivia-Paris Quinn

Dr Olivia-Paris Quinn is a paediatric neurology Fellow with a particular interest in paediatric stroke research. She received her medical degree at the University of Adelaide and completed her internship and basic paediatric training in Adelaide. She has subsequently worked in both Brisbane and Melbourne. Dr Quinn’s ultimate goal is to pursue a PhD in paediatric stroke, with a particular focus on rates of recognition and treatment for children residing in non-metropolitan and rural Australia.

Dr Eve Taylor is paediatric Basic Trainee in Tasmania based primarily at Royal Hobart Hospital. Following medical school in Tasmania, Dr Taylor completed a Masters of Public Health and has ongoing involvement with research in community paediatrics and preventative health.

Dr Katherine Colman is a paediatric oncology Fellow at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne with a particular interest in paediatric leukaemia and stem cell transplantation. As a MACH-Track scholar, Dr Coleman has commenced her PhD this year at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, investigating chemotherapy resistance in paediatric acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and working in novel drug discovery.

Dr Emily Rice is an Advanced Trainee in general paediatrics and community child health, currently working in rural Western Australia in the Kimberley. She has a strong interest in research and received a Telethon Trust Research Fellowship in 2023 to pursue research with the Wesfarmers Centre for Vaccines and Infectious Diseases (WCVID) at The Kids Research Institute Australia. With a strong interest in public health and preventative medicine, Dr Rice has recently completed a Masters of Public Health through the University of Sydney.

Dr Deeva Vather has completed her RACP Advanced Training in general paediatrics and is currently in her first year of training with the Australasian College of Dermatologists. She graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2015 and completed her Basic Training in Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand, before returning to Australia and working in Adelaide and Alice Springs. Dr Vather has a special interest in First Nations health and paediatric dermatology and is working towards practicing as a paediatric dermatologist. She enjoys teaching and has been an Honorary Affiliate Lecturer for Adelaide Medical School, the University of Adelaide.
