Over the years, there has been a global resurgence of interest in the often-overlooked aspect of health care: spirituality. Spirituality can be challenging to understand as it is deeply personal and experiential, rather than purely cognitive. The significance of this dimension is highlighted in the AChPM curriculum for Advanced Trainees.
 
Workshop details
The sessions will be delivered over four consecutive Tuesdays from 11 November to 2 December 2025 and facilitated by current members of Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (AChPM). They will be held online from 4.30pm to 6pm AEDT | 6.30pm to 9pm NZDT.
 
Workshop participants will be encouraged to participate and engage in group work to explore themes such as meaning, suffering, hope, forgiveness, love, and healing.
 
Content will draw from a variety of sources including stories, images, music, and silent reflection.
 
The workshop content has been developed by the late Prof Doug Bridge, a pioneer in palliative medicine in Australia and Asia since 1983 and a former President of the AChPM.

Webinars are currently scheduled to be held from 4.30pm to 6pm AEDT on the below dates: 

  1. Self Awareness - Tuesday, 11 November 2025 
  2. Development of the spiritual dimension in health care - Tuesday, 18 November 2025 
  3. Love, meaning, and transcendence - Tuesday, 25 November 2025 
  4. Spiritual assessment, forgiveness and self-care - Tuesday, 2 December 2025 

The workshop is over four weeks. Participants are required to attend for the full workshop on four dates across the four weeks and will require reading/reflection prior and between sessions.

Technical and Private Space Requirements

This workshop runs across four consecutive Tuesdays in November/December. Each participant is required to attend all four workshops and complete the pre-reading materials ahead of each session.

Private Space Requirements:

I agree that during the workshop I will have no interruptions including phone calls/work calls as sessions are simulated learning. I agree that this workshop requires active participation and that my camera and microphone need to be turned on. To participate I will need to be in a quiet and private space at a desk with paper.  

Technical Requirements:

  • Headphones (strongly recommended).
  • Laptop/desktop with camera/microphone. 
  • No mobile devices or tablets. 
  • Good quality internet connection to support zoom video.
